The CARS Pro Cup Series was known as the USA Racing Pro Cup Series from 2009-2011 and the Hooters Pro Cup Series from 1997-2008.

In August of 2011 the series adopted the name "Championship Auto Racing Series" (CARS) and is known as the CARS Pro Cup Series.
