Surprise, surprise, Johnson ended up in victory lane. The debate has gone on for the past week on the website on whether Johnson is the ?best ever?. Here?s my view on it. He seems to be the best closer in the sport. I cannot offer too much insight into this though because I have only been following the sport since 1998, but Johnson always finds away to be at the front at the end. Normally he does not have the best car, but wins and that takes talent. I think Johnson is one of the best closers and has one of the best teams ever and I?ll just go that far. As far of the rest of the race is concerned, I found it to be pretty dull overall.
As far as Nationwide is concerned, congratulations go out to Justin Allgaier on his first victory in the series, and I was happy to see it come at a companion event with the Cup series as well. I really enjoyed this race overall between the different strategies and everything else. Also would like to give a shout out to Mike Bliss who came home in 8th win the #40 car.
Martinsville is here again here is a look at some guys to watch:
Jimmie Johnson: Shocker! Well he has won 4 of the 6 COT races at the track. The other two races he finished 4th and 2nd.
Danny Hamlin: He won the other 2 COT events at the track, and totaled 5 Top 5?s and 6 Top 10?s in the 6 COT races.
Jeff Gordon: Although he has not won a COT race at the track Jeff has 6 Top 5?s in the 6 races in the COT.
Tony Stewart: In the 6 COT events Tony has 2 Top 5?s and 4 Top 10?s and has won at the track in 2006.
Dark Horse Pick of the Race- Bobby Labonte: Do not look for him to be in victory lane but Bobby finished 16th and 13th last year in the inferior equipment that was the 96 car so I would not be surprised if the 71 car came home with a Top 15 finish.
Kevin Harvick: In his last 2 races at the track, Harvick has a win and a 5th place finish, plus Harvick seems to have best equipment this year as well.
Ron Hornaday: Although he has yet to win at Martinsville, Ron came in 2nd and 4th last year in the two events at the track.
Mike Skinner: Mike has 3 wins at the track and always a factor wherever the series goes week in and week out.
Johnny Benson: Benson is in the 15 this weekend which has run well so far this season. In his last 2 trip to the track Benson has finished 1st and 4th as well.
Dennis Setzer: Dennis has 3 wins at the track and knocked off 5 straight Top 10 finishes.
Victory Lane: I find it hard to look past Harvick (Saturday) and Johnson (Sunday), but if it is someone other than them I will say Benson and Gordon for the weekend.
