After a grueling 9 months, the NASCAR season has come to an end. And of course, with that comes the end of the fourth annual NASCAR Fantasy Predictor Cup. All 3 championships were technically still up for grabs (some more than others, admittedly). For the final time this year, here are the standings.

We'll start with Nationwide, as that was easily the most distant points battle. The final Nationwide MVP was split between the top two in points, Kevin20fan and Riven3d, who scored 13 points each. However, since he only had to score 2 points to win the title the 2013 Nationwide Predictor Championship will go to Riven3d, his first ever Predictor Cup title! Congratulations!

Final Standings:

1. Riven3d: 512 [15] {12}

------------------------------------------------

2. Kevin20fan: 475 [13] {6}
3. T-27: 440 [13] {2}
4. David: 394 [9] {5}
5. Dodge: 375 [5] {2}
6. The Long Shot: 327 [7] {4}

9. Mik Maqracer83: 139 [2] {1}
10. 24over48: 112 [1] {1}
11. Biscuits In A Red Bull: 99 [2] {1}
12. NASCAR Lead Lap Points: 84 [3] {0}
13. Kubica Fan Ireland: 83 [3] {1}
14. Bronco: 70 [0] {0}
15. Slicedbread96: 65 [1] {1}
16. Numbah10hatah: 39 [0] {0} (+2)
17. Draco: 36 [1] {0} (-1)
17. 883910fan: 36 [1] {0} (-1)
19. Billy Bad Butt: 10 [0] {0}

Next up will be the Trucks, where we actually had a 3-way tie for the points lead entering Homestead! 2 out of the 3 points leaders successfully predicted Kyle Busch to win, but it was the winner of the final MVP of the season, Riven3d, who will clinch his first ever Truck Predictor Championship! Congratulations!

Final Standings:

1. Riven3d: 283 [5] {8}

2. Kevin20fan: 280 [7] {5} (-1)

15. Slicedbread96: 7 [0] {0}
15. Draco: 7 [0] {0}
15. Kubica Fan Ireland: 7 [0] {0}

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for: the awarding of the fourth annual Cup Predictor Championship. It was basically down to a 2-horse race between Kevin20fan and T-27 entering Homestead, and that was how it turned out. The final Cup MVP was actually a 3-way tie, between inaugural Predictor Cup Champion Josh C in his final week of predicting, defending 2-time Predictor Cup Champion Joey2448, and, of all people, T-27, who scored 11 points each! However, Kevin20fan, after scoring 10 points at Homestead, was able to secure what has eluded him for the past 2 seasons: the Cup Predictor Championship. Congratulations!

And with that, the Predictor Cup Season has come to an end. I want to thank all of you who stuck around during the couple of months where the league was in limbo, as well as those of you who came back when the league was starting to get back on its feet. I hope that I was at least serviceable as your interim league head, and I'm honored that 24over48 is allowing me to continue to serve in an assistant role for the league next year. I promise you all: things will be back to normal next year, and even if one of us has to leave due to personal issues, the other one will be able to step up and serve in his place without missing a beat.

However, there is one thing that everyone absolutely must do: RECRUIT!! I will emphasize this again and again: we must recruit for next year. Fact is: we ended the year with just a dozen weekly players. To put that in comparison, we had about 25-30 regular players in 2012, and about 20 regular players earlier this year. Our numbers need to increase next year by a LOT, so in other words: RECRUIT RECRUIT RECRUIT. And if there are any former regular players who are reading this: everything is back to normal now with the league, so we'd love to have you back! (And maybe if more people could join NRF's IndyCar/F1 league, David's Grand-Am league, and my Home Tracks league, I'm sure we'd appreciate it.)

I'm also going to make another announcement: yet another league will be joining the Racing-Reference community soon. I am planning to run another fantasy league of my own next year (it's been cleared with 24over48 already, so no worries). The concept will be different from the Fantasy Predictor Cup, however. At some point in late January/early February, I plan to host some sort of a Fantasy Draft, which will encompass all 3 NASCAR Series, IndyCar, and F1. The idea is that each player will be running some sort of an organization, with a certain number of teams running in each series (if you really want to, you can only compete in a certain series or two, but I'd rather you play in all series). You can add or drop drivers in each respective series as you please. As for a points system, I'm thinking about using the Latford System for all series (to keep the system universal), but if anyone can think of a better points system idea, I'd like to hear it. I hope that at least some of you will be able to participate! (I'm thinking that no more than 10 people should be allowed to participate, so first come, first served, as they say).

But yes, this concludes the 2013 NASCAR Fantasy Predictor Cup Season. Expect the MIPA competition to start up next week or the week after, and expect 24over48 to post some sort of update blog in the coming weeks as well. I thank you all for participating this year, and I look forward to playing with you all next year!
