5th I feel that on form I should put Logano here, but I think the 22 team might struggle now that they have met their goal.So Kahne goes here instead. He has been the only one to consistently challenge the Gibbs cars on the cookie cutters and he will benefit from having Johnson as a team mate on the flat tracks. This team has struggled for a constant level of performance. The 5 car was second in points after Kansas, but ended the regular season in 14th and needed the wild card.
4th I am going to surprise a few by picking Kurt Busch to score a fourth place finish.
Kurt has been carrying this team on his back all year and would likely have won a race were it not for his pit crew.I will be supporting this team in the chase. They have good speed and I can't help but be impressed with how they made the chase.
3rd Kyle Busch should be the title favorite along with his team mate Kenseth due to their dominance on the intermediates this year with 8 wins between them.Busch's history in the chase will scare people away, but I reckon he makes an impression this year. The first 2 races will be vital for this team.
2nd Matt Kensth like Busch has been strong on the intermediates with 4 wins and numerous other good showings. He gets the number 1 seed due to his 5 wins, but he has only 1 other top 5 finish. That worries me, as does the fact that this is his first year with his new crew chief. The viability of his toyota engine would be my biggest concern as 1 engine failure would undo all the good work in the other 9 races.
1st Jimmie Johnson.Horses for courses and Johnson and Knaus have a strong track record at bringing their best during the chase. He will be greatly helped by the fact that he will be the favorite heading to Talladega, traditionally a weak race for him.He looks to be strong everywhere except Homestead. The worry would be how last years collapse would affect the 48 team in the run-in
