Joey's only 14 races into his career as an 18 year old, what does that tell you? The guy's only turning 19 this month and he's definently showing improvement as the races go on.

edit: ugh, the point of this thread was to talk about rookies in Nationwide. Of which Allgaier is doing awesome.

wow in the SAME CAR that Tony Stewart won over 40 races in. and two Championships

Joey Lagano is an overhyped wanabe who will never make it in Sprint cup. I always laugh when i see that comercial on Tv where he wants to quote "Win sprint Cup races". That will never happen/

Way to ignore the obvious improvement over the last few races, top 20's and top 10's.

Remember when this thread was supposed to be about just Nationwide rookies? anyways...

Tony was 28 years old with a season's worth of Nationwide races back when the Cup and NW races were similar.

Joey's 18 years old (19 this month), had half a season of Nationwide in a completely different style of stock car and only three Cup starts in crap equipment.

Your standards are just out of whack, Smoke is my favorite driver but anyone with half a brain wouldn't expect Joey to come out of the gate as good as Tony did.

Last year I was simply cheering for Allgaier in ARCA but this year my attitude towards him changed drastically. He impressed me so much that I quickly become his great fan. Las Vegas, Bristol and Dega (to some extent) were huge. It's obvious that he is already a mature driver with his own driving style. He should get his first victory in the foreseeable future, I believe.

About Logano. At the beginning of 2009 season I was very sceptical about him and first races proved me right. But he's improving rapidly and I'm ready to say: "Yes, this boy can drive the COT". Let's see what will be next.

Ol Lassanga aint fit for this sport. Never in my life would I thougt we had some New England nancy racing. A dadgum shame

Brendan Gaughan took the lead in the rookie standings after Lowes with his 2nd place finish , but then Justin Allgaier tied Gaughan with his 10th place finish at Dover. Justin has the most top fives and top tens of any rookie so far.

BTW there's a panel at the end of the season that rates the rookies based on on-track and off-track behaviour, junk like that, and they give them points based on it. In 2006 John Andretti, of over 300 Cup starts, had the rookie point lead based on all the races run but the panel awarded enough points to Danny O'Quinn so he ended up with ROTY. So two wrongs, John being a rookie and the panel having to overturn the season long results, ended up with a right. Hopefully Allgaier can win it on his own on the race track so it doesn't end up like that this year.

I'm going with Gaughan. I know it's still just 1/3 into the season but he has been the highest in points for most of the season, except for the few races after time he got caught in the big one.

Yeah i'm with you... think he's having a good season and i think that he can sustain the season!
