  1. "NASCAR 2011: The Game" posted by Cooper on September 30, 2010   (26 comments)

This week Activision, a video game producer announced their plan to create and release a NASCAR video game for multiple consoles in February 2011. For some, this is a big relief because of the lack of credible NASCAR games in the past. This past year EA Sports gave up on creating a respectable NASCAR game and gave up the rights to NASCAR. I for one, .... Read the rest of this blog

  2. "If Sprint Cup had ‚??track‚?Ě championships..." posted by Talon64 on September 30, 2010   (5 comments)

What would, or should, it look like?

But when I say ?track? championship, I mean different types of tracks like plate races, intermediates and short tracks grouped into their own championships like Indycar has done with its oval and road course championships.
My idea would be to separate it into 4 groups, each it?s own championship that .... Read the rest of this blog

  3. "How NASCAR is Ruining Its Future" posted by NASCARgirl01 on September 30, 2010   (5 comments)

If I asked you to name some of the up & coming drivers, you would probably tell me ?Justin Allgaier? and ?Trevor Bayne?. If I asked you why, you would undoubtedly say ?Because they are well-spoken, respectful, mature young men that have a bright future ahead of them.? But is that so certain? I would definitely like to think so, and a couple of months .... Read the rest of this blog

  4. "Dover Downs And Ups" posted by The Vicar on September 29, 2010   (0 comments)

Another good race is in the can.

This Chase is going to be different. Don?t ask me why. I just feel it.

It?s ?The Chase?. Lots of drama. With 11 laps to go, ESPN goes to com?l for the next 6 laps. That?s more unacceptable than missing restarts (which they?ve done a great job of avoiding). I guess with not much pressure on the leader, .... Read the rest of this blog

  5. "View From the Flagstand: Dover" posted by Gene Haddock on September 27, 2010   (0 comments)

In week two of the Chase most of the on-track fireworks were viewed during a practice session. Practice? Practice? We talking about practice? Yes, A.I., we are.

    CHECKERED FLAG

Did you miss him? Wishful thinking was not enough to keep Jimmie Johnson out of the winner's circle. JJ took the pole, led the most laps, and won going away .... Read the rest of this blog

News item from Jayski.com this morning:

  9. "Who Killed USF1?" posted by Uptight Motorsports Nerd on September 27, 2010   (2 comments)

February 24, 2009 ? a date which will live in obscurity ? Peter Windsor and Ken Anderson appeared on SPEED Channel to launch USF1 (later called USGPE, and then USF1 again). Their plan was to operate Formula One team inside the United States. The plan had only been limited to whispers and ?what ifs? before this point. In fact, the name USF1 was only .... 10. "What Nascar Team Would You Drive For?" posted by Hyperacti on September 25, 2010   (7 comments)

Nascar teams come in all shapes and sizes. Strong and weak, big and small, powerhouse, start and park, Nationwide-only, you name it. But all teams share one thing in common; the push to be the most successful. But which team builds the best cars? Which team has the best personnel? Which team would you be most successful with?

There is always big flow of new talent rising up through the open-wheel racing ladder. To get up the ladder, you need to stand out, especially towards the top end (Formula 1, Indycar, etc.). So who has been impressive this year?

Another race is in the can.

No one knows more than Clint that winning isn?t everything. It?s nothing now. (Except for his share of $248,250.)

NHMS and too many other tracks should be left to running the Trucks. For whatever the reasons, they are consistently able to provide great racing throughout an event no matter the venue.

  15. "This Was Only the First Race." posted by drewh on September 20, 2010   (0 comments)

The very first race of the ten race Chase for the Championship is just that, only the first race. As always happens when you group 12 drivers within 60 points of each other, there will be big swings in the points after the very first race.

After Sunday?s race in Loudon, New Hampshire, only three of the twelve Chase drivers advanced their position .... Read the rest of this blog

  16. "What Should Penske Racing Do?" posted by Hyperacti on September 18, 2010   (10 comments)

There was so much pre-hype surrounding Penske to start the 2010 season. Kurt Busch had just returned to prominence again. Newly-signed Brad Keselowski was poised to make a big splash in the cup circuit. Rapidly-improving Sam Hornish was supposedly ready to finally make an appearance near the front. Penske had 2 full-time Nationwide series programs in .... Read the rest of this blog

  18. "Right Sides Only: Loudon" posted by Gene Haddock on September 17, 2010   (0 comments)

The Chase is finally here, along with all its inherent excitement. Alleged excitement, that is. Twelve drivers, ten races. Two and a half months that will seem like six, at least. Why don't the NFL playoffs seem like they go on forever? Instead, they leave you wishing the games were still being played. Yeah, we want some of that, NASCAR.

  19. "That time of year again..." posted by Riverside on September 16, 2010   (1 comment)

The Chase. In ten weeks, we?ll have our first champion of the new decade. Of the twelve men taking the final step to becoming champion, five have already won, meaning statistically, there is better chance of a crowning a new champ than a previous one adding another to their collections. However, they do have 12 titles between them, so what chance do .... Read the rest of this blog

...I went to the historic North Wilkesboro Speedway to watch some live racing! After experiencing the 2008 Daytona 500, I thought nothing would ever top that. Then, just over a year later I went to the reopened Rockingham Speedway and thought nothing would ever top that. Now I've been to the first stock car races at North Wilkesboro since 1996 and .... 21. "Zen and the Art of Rain Tire Maintenance" posted by Uptight Motorsports Nerd on September 14, 2010   (13 comments)

When the weather is dry racing slicks and street tires work under the same principals. As the tire rolls forward the flexing of the sidewall generates heat. Once we enter a turn, the tread slips on the dry pavement creating more heat from friction. This heat needs to be dissipated and there are two ways to do it.

Another couple good races are in the can.

A demoralizing defeat in Atlanta. An honorable return to his home in (i.e. near) Richmond. But can Mr. Hamlin, unlike his CSA ancestors, win the war?

Watching Takuma Sato flounder in IRL has been painful. Having become used to watch him drive competitively and convincingly in F1.
