  1. "How Different is "New" Anyway?" posted by Uptight Motorsports Nerd on January 31, 2013   (3 comments)

So NASCAR has unveiled a new Sprint Cup Car. To clarify, I mean an all-new car. The chassis dimensions have changed, making every roll cage built between 2007 and 2012 obsolete. The great irony is that the COT was intended to save owners money, but it does not help if the rule book is to be rewritten every five years. This happens after the previous .... 2. "Hang on, what (F3 related)" posted by Biscuits In A Red Bull on January 29, 2013   (2 comments)

This blog post probably bears no relation to most users of this site, and many will totally ignore it due to my previous post, but I'm now very confused.

Personally I feel that there are almost too many junior motorsports series, and whilst most have their uses/markets, there are some that have very little impact on motorsports, for example, .... Read the rest of this blog

  3. "Grand-Am Predictor Standings after Daytona" posted by Hinch27 on January 29, 2013   (0 comments)

I should have pointed out that the bonuses for exact picks are on top of 5 points for being in the top 3/5, so for example picking the 24 to win the GT class gets 205 points, 5 for being in the top 5 and 50x4 for being exact with exactness getting quadrupled.

    Actual top-3/5 in each class:
    DP: 01 10 60
    GT: 24 52 69 63 44
GX: 16 22 .... Read the rest of this blog

  4. "2013 Fantasy NASCAR Predictor Cup Recruiting" posted by 24over48 on January 28, 2013   (0 comments)

The season begins extremely soon! The first post will come after the Super Bowl (Lifelong 49ers fan, by the way). I will post the complete roster of The Sprint Unlimited and you will give a Top-10 prediction like normal. It will not count for points but for Exhibition points. There are 5 Exhibition races (The Sprint Unlimited, Budweiser Duels, Sprint .... Read the rest of this blog

  5. "F1 2012 Awards + Thoughts of 2013" posted by Biscuits In A Red Bull on January 24, 2013   (6 comments)

The title basically says it, so I'm not wasting any time on this.

    F1 2012

    Driver of the year:

1 - Alonso (his car was 1-1.2s slower than the Red Bulls. That is a proven fact. Also, think about Massa when you put that into perspective)
2 - Hamilton (Would've been champ if not for his car)
3 - Vettel (Was champ, and .... Read the rest of this blog

  6. "RRFFL 2013 Season Preview (Team Selections)!" posted by Candraco on January 24, 2013   (20 comments)

Ok everyone Now is the time to form your teams, I noticed you guys were proactive and created your teams in the last blog I posted even though I hadnt posted a full drivers lineup. One thing is that even though some drivers didnt race last year they will still have a point value (No driver will ever have a value of zero.)

Here is the full list .... Read the rest of this blog

  8. "2013 Predictor Cups Week 1 - Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona" posted by Hinch27 on January 19, 2013   (6 comments)

It's the beginning of 2013 in racing! Time to pick the top finishers in each class at the 24 Hours of Daytona. I'm giving all a full week to make their picks, so please take advantage.

    Rolex Sports Car Series rules:

    Daytona Prototype and GX classes-
    Predict top-3 cars (by number)
Cars that finish in top-3, but aren't exact, .... Read the rest of this blog

  9. "Old vs. New Points - 1924 AAA National Championship REWORK" posted by Riverside on January 16, 2013   (1 comment)

Through 1920-29, the AAA altered the points system for their National Championship. Though still based on mileage of the race itself, it was amended to reflect various mileages, from 40 miles up to the Indy 500 itself.

In 1924, JIMMY MURPHY won his second National crown, despite only entering six races, with three-time champion EARL COOPER .... Read the rest of this blog

  10. "The Great Commission" posted by Uptight Motorsports Nerd on January 15, 2013   (4 comments)

Due to the unforeseen failure of the Mayan apocalypse, a new year has begun. We are all very disappointed in the lack of a post-apocalyptic hellscape where the living envy the dead. Without hoards of roving gangs fighting for oil and dry land, we are forced to find a useful way to spend our continuing existence. I am not one for New Year's Resolutions, .... 11. "2013 RRFFL Preseason Bulletin!" posted by Candraco on January 15, 2013   (9 comments)

Hello Everyone, Its time for a new year of Nascar Racing!

Before anything else I wanted to introduce all the new rules for the year.

Previously It has been pick 3 drivers and your top 2 will count for points. This year I am changing over the game to make this more of an actual League instead of a pick em game, This year starting at .... Read the rest of this blog

  14. "2013 Fantasy NASCAR Predictor Cup" posted by 24over48 on January 12, 2013   (12 comments)

With many changes coming this season and hopefully many new competitors, I've felt that I should organize all these changes and rules into one post so you can all reference either here or on Facebook. The first change coming into this season is rather simple. I am opening the opportunity to compete through Facebook for current and new competitors. I .... Read the rest of this blog

  15. "The Most Dangerous Venues" posted by Biscuits In A Red Bull on January 8, 2013   (24 comments)

So, I've got bored. I've decided that I want a conversation with racing fans about something that we will inevitably argue on, but something that could have a lot of thought behind. If you're a huge fan of any form of racing, from dirt hillclimbs to huge superspeedways, then you'll definitely have seen some big crashes. It's a part of racing that neither .... 16. "Old vs. New Points - 1916 AAA National Championship REWORK" posted by Riverside on January 6, 2013   (5 comments)

In 1916, the American Automobile Association (AAA) sanctioned the first ever national series for racing in the USA. It was one of the earliest motor racing championships on record, starting almost 100 years of championship racing in America. It's winner was a Brit: early motor racing legend DARIO RESTA. He won 4 of 10 races enterd (there were 15 championship .... Read the rest of this blog

  17. "FINAL MIPA of the Year Voting" posted by 24over48 on January 5, 2013   (7 comments)

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I skipped the past two weeks as I figured at least a handful of regulars would be on vacation, so I waited until everybody got back in their regular routine.

There will be no overall MIPA of the Year, just one for each series as each series is its own league. I'm open to any and all .... Read the rest of this blog

  18. "Messed Up Points - 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup" posted by Biscuits In A Red Bull on January 1, 2013   (2 comments)

I got bored one day and decided to rework the NSCS 2012 season, using the 1990s points system used in F1, which goes:

    1 - 10
    2 - 6
    3 - 4
    4 - 3
    5 - 2
    6 - 1

By using such a simple system, and with no chase, the results are hugely different:

    1 Johnson 107
    2 Hamlin 94
    3 Keselowski 74
    4 Gordon 64
    5 Stewart 64
6 Kyle .... Read the rest of this blog
